ABOUT US
Wellness, Prosperity & Socio-Empowerment Organization (WPSO-Afghanistan) Previously knows as Women and Peace Studies Organization is a non-profit, non-government, non-political, non-partisan Afghan organization which was conceptualized in 2012 and formally established in 2015. WPSO has been working with a growing network of local women peacebuilders all over Afghanistan called the Local Women Peacebuilders Network since 2012. The engagement included providing capacity building, advocacy, mobilization and leadership training, mentoring and coaching and also platforms for local conflict resolution and also impacting the national and international peace processes. There are around 200 women and men as part of the members from all over the country.

Community Engagement
WPSO is engaging in the community by following guiding principles, strategies and approach with focus on the sensitivity of community-context. The engagement included providing capacity building, mobilization and leadership training, mentoring and coaching, platforms for local conflict resolution and also creating support groups in the community.

Education and development are one of the main goals of WPSO in the response to the basic and massive needs of community people with focus on needs of women and girls. The education and development included providing long-term and short-term training, capacity and skill building programs by initiating home-based classes. Moreover, Development education in youth work aims to support young people to increase their awareness and understanding of the interdependent and unequal world in which we live, through a process of interactive learning, debate, action and reflection.

WPSO create and promote a network of local women peacebuilders all over Afghanistan. In order to promote the importance of women’s inclusion and leadership to bring peace and security to Afghanistan as a means for conflict resolution among community members, the training and capacity building interventions introduced conflict scan tools and methods of mediation, dialogue design, facilitation and violence prevention. For years, WPSO has mobilized local women leaders creating skills of conflict resolution and created opportunities for them to connect with local and national leaders and it has specific results in decreasing cases of local violence.
